New Year’s Reflections

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party 2012

The New Year is here and I must say that I am thrilled to be done with 2012. Last year was quite trying for me personally and professionally. With it came a lot of heartache, growing pains and grief. Personally, I went through two miscarriages, an emergency appendectomy, and my sister was very ill. Professionally, although my book was written a year ago, we went through several editors, graphic designers and technical challenges to create a final draft. It felt like I was a bowling pin, constantly being knocked down. Finally, the new year is here and I can move forward with my dreams that weren’t meant to come to fruition in 2012. I am confident that 2013 will be very different for me.

Last night I spent some time reflecting on the past year and Pink Tent. Women have come forth with so many stories to share. It is clear to me that last year was very challenging for many of you as well. You too experienced loss, health challenges, financial hardships, and emotional roller coasters. If I could, I would have reached out to so many of you and sent you a virtual hug if I could. Just last week we had the largest number of visitors to the site. Whoohoo! What surprised me most was that most women were mostly interested in searching for stories of other women with herpes, so that they could relate and find comfort. They weren’t as interested in blog posts. This indicates to me that what you women want more than anything is to connect with one another so that you don’t feel so alone.

With your help, we can create a refuge to reveal ourselves and to expose our vulnerability. Together we can break through our limitations and follow our dreams. What is it that you want to create for 2013? Is it to regain your self confidence? Eat better? Live more fully? Discover partnership? Whatever it is, I want to be right there with you. My vision for 2013 is to launch my new book, Live, Love & Thrive with Herpes, A Holistic Guide for Women into this world and to begin to empower women to live a life they never thought was possible.

I am hoping to have the new book available by Valentine’s Day. How appropriate, huh? A day devoted to love and gooshy Hallmark cards. This year, I want you to devote Valentine’s Day to yourself by writing yourself a love letter. What do you love most about yourself? What attributes are you most proud of? I’m going to let you in on a little secret. If you can truly learn to love yourself, you will become a light upon the world and it is from this space that miracles can happen and a deep level of healing can take place.

Let 2013 be your best year yet! If you haven’t done so already, opt in to the home page so that I can include you in our community and let you know when the book is available. I can’t wait to share this book with you! It is the book I wish I had available to me when I was first diagnosed.

Live. Love. Thrive.
