My daughter had a swap to check for herpes because she was really red, inflamed and sore. They said it could be herpes but were unsure. Fast forward, she goes to get her results and the swap results are missing. (Frustrating) but the bloodwork came back negative. Im afraid to be releived for her. She initially was feel unwell late april/early May and tested positive for clamydia on May 7. Should the blood test be accurate?
If it was an iGg blood test, it tests for antibodies, which can take 6-8 weeks or so to show up after initial infection. I would do another blood test, after waiting that amount of time, if it was igG. Another note is that iGg only catches 70% of infections, so a swab with active sores would be the most accurate way to know.
