Full Moon Forgiveness Ceremony: Burning Woman

It’s time to #forgiveandlive

Who do you need to forgive? Write a letter to that person or to yourself describing in detail what you are ready to let go of.

In this video, I burned a victims notification of a pardon for the man who sexually abused me years ago. I am finally “burning” the past, and you can too. You can choose peace and not let your past define you. Stand up for all women!

This video WILL transform you! While you watch this video, write down who you can forgive and join me in this cleansing ritual!

We are meant to heal in community and I can’t think of a better way than to stand, locking hands and hearts and releasing that which no longer serves us. Forgiveness is truly a gift of the Spirit!

Forgiveness: Forgiving The Unforgiven

What should you do when the PAST calls?

Hang UP!

It has nothing for you!~Sandra Yancey: Founder E-Women Network

My journey of forgiveness

My husband, Richard, and I spent this past weekend cleaning out our safe and file cabinets. I must admit that I have been dreading this!

I have been in business for myself since 2004 and have kept ALL of my receipts! Yep…that’s right! It’s 2018 now and my file cabinets were bursting at the seams!

In addition to business receipts, I’m a sucker for personal memorabilia!

So, as Richard fired up the chiminea in the back yard, I started purging, while he proceeded to do the burning.

It snowed ashes in our back yard, while the gentle snow kept on falling!

In the last hours of burning with my husbands hair filled with snow and ashes, I came across a more recent letter from the Delaware Department of Justice.

It was the final correspondence that finalized the pardon of the teacher who sexually abused me from about age 12-18 years old.

In the Spring of 2017 (exactly 1 year prior to the pardon), I was notified by the Victim Services Department from the Department of Justice, that my former teacher was requesting a pardon for the Sexual Abuse felonies he committed decades ago.

Bare in mind that after I came forward at the age of 23 years old, 3 other women did too.

Unfortunately, my case was the only one that had enough evidence for conviction.

This case went to the supreme court and challenged and extended Delaware’s laws around the statue of limitations.

In the spring of 2017, I was offered the opportunity to attend the public hearing or write a “victim statement” to be read on my behalf.

Even the term “victim” triggered me and a whole ocean of feelings and turmoil arose again for me to heal, even though I thought I was done with healing. (more on that another time)

I did end up writing that statement in the Spring of 2017, so that my story still had a voice.

AND

I want YOU to have a voice too!

Here is why this is important to you.

If the PAST calls…HANG the #$@! up! It has NOTHING for you!

What I mean is that that letter has no business being in my life.

I guess I’ve kept it for the last 6 months because when I would read it, I would get fired up, angry and passionate about taking a stand for women and helping them to find their voices.

Of course it made me ill to even look at the envelope, but I thought I needed it to keep my passion strong for helping women rise in their power.

It has taken me a few days of hanging out in my pj’s, processing my emotions and finally talking to my sister and dear friend today to realize that…

there is NOTHING GOOD coming out of the ANGER I have carried towards the pardoning of this man and the governor who granted the pardon, despite the board of directors voting in my favor.

So, after a powerful forgiveness exercise today, out in nature, with the sun on my face and God granting me GRACE…

I released and forgave these men.

For ME and YOU…I choose PEACE…

I no longer need the anger to fuel my flame!

So, I have decided to choose forgiveness and I’ll  burn that letter too, but I need your help.

I truly believe that we must all Forgive if we are meant to live our BEST lives.

So, it’s time for me to burn this letter, and finally heal from my past.

This is where you come in.

Who do you need to forgive?
What do you need to let go of?
What emotions or memories keep you held in bondage?

If not NOW then WHEN?

It’s our time ladies!

This is why I am cordially inviting you to join me on the

Let’s Talk About Sexual Taboos!

Vulva or Vagina?

If you have been following me on @DrKellySchuh on Facebook, you may have seen my Vulva and Vagina puppet video.

Whaaaaat?

My team and I attended the American Association of Sexual Health Educators, Counselors and Therapist conference.

It was eye-opening for me….

We broke down Sexual Taboos with displays and conversations about

-Crazy Adult toys

-Surrogate dolls

-BDSM (I had to look that up)

and lots of shocking conversations…

At our booth, we asked people…

Got H?

Not a question you ask every day….

And then we handed them our cute little herpes stuffed animal to open up a conversation.

I met a woman who makes these puppets and she corrected me when I referred to them as vaginas.

It’s not the anatomy I had wrong. She felt that the term vagina was patriarchal, whereas vulva was not.

Our vulvas give us pleasure!

Who doesn’t love pleasure?

Did you know the clitoris has thousands of nerves endings with the sole purpose of

PLEASURE?

I know many of you feel totally disconnected and even disgusted by your lady parts….

But it’s time we fall in love with them.

Our bodies were not JUST made to make babies…..

We are meant to thoroughly love and adore our bodies and to feel

ECSTATIC PLEASURE…

It’s time to get out a mirror ladies….

Say HELLO to your lady parts and reconnect to your sensual side.

Don’t wait for a partner to touch you!

It’s time YOU become the expert in your own pleasure.

Remember that song…”I touch myself?”

It’s time…

Take it slow..

You CAN heal…

No matter what your vulva story is, Pink Tent™ is here to help.

Overcome Procrastination With Mel Robbins’ 5 Second Rule

I recently discovered Mel Robbins inadvertently looking for a podcast to teach me new ways of helping women overcome anxiety. Mel is a best-selling author and expert on leadership and defeating doubt, and is known for her Tedx Talk on the 5 Second Rule. For procrastinators, this rule can mean a complete change for your life, work, and everyday confidence. Simply put, if you have an impulse or desire to do something, you must physically move within 5 seconds to act on that goal.

I started listening to the podcast and found it extremely powerful. A week later now after having done my first 5 Second Rule, I am using it ALL the time. If you are struggling with taking action in your life, this could be an amazing life change. Why not use it as your New Year’s Resolution?

Hope After Herpes: Say Yes To The Dress

Hope After Herpes: Say Yes To The Dress

As a doctor, transformational coach, and 20-year carrier of the herpes virus, I have the unique opportunity of openly talking about the emotional pain and stigma that a herpes diagnosis brings.

I start all my coaching calls with a quick meditation, to center my clients and to have them receive a glimpse of peace and tranquility. After they become more conscious of their breath and their thoughts slow down a bit, I ask them to tell me their story about living with herpes.

For many women, this is their first opportunity to disclose their deep, dark secret of herpes and with it often comes tears and despair. I sit quietly as they share and open their hearts to a stranger, whom they know will not judge them. I too had to tell my story for the first time when I was 23 years old and I remember how painful and humbling that story was.

After they are able to share their whole story from past to present, I tell them that we are going to take some time to look into their future. I ask them to “wave a realistic magic wand and tell me what it is that they want to create in the next 6 months to a year in terms of health and romance.”

It is at this very point when the phone line often goes silent and their voice quivers, their breath becomes choppy again and tears start pouring down their faces. Many women are nearly speechless at this point because the thought of their future seems bleak.

They start by sharing everything that they DON’T WANT, like the…

SHAME of herpes
-feeling DIRTY or DAMAGED or
-constantly thinking about the symptoms of herpes

And then I ask again with a loving voice and an open heart, I ask…if that is what you don’t want, what do you want?

It is so hard for them to answer this question about their future, for many of them have absolutely given up hope.

With some guidance, I ask them if I were to have asked them before their diagnosis, what would they say. Many then say that they actually want a loving relationship and partnership. They want open communication, a companion, someone to love them and someone to share their lives with. Many also would love to start a family and have happy and healthy children.

With some coercing, if they are single, I ask….if you could, would you want to get married someday? And then the truth comes out….

YES

They would love to say Yes To The Dress

and yet the fear of rejection, isolation, feeling dirty and shameful or fearing that their secret might get out there stops them dead in their tracks.

The antidote?

HOPE

That is what I often serve on my first conversation with women with herpes.

Hope, Healing, and Happiness are still available for any woman with herpes.

While you might not want to get married, herpes should not keep you from living out your dreams of vibrant health, love, and partnership.

I forget who said…”Without a vision people perish” and yet I know it is true.

Wherever you are on your journey with herpes, I am here to tell you that it is time to start dreaming again.

Start by asking yourself these questions
1. What do I want?
2. What would I need to believe to create this in my life?
3. What actions would I need to take?

It all starts with a little bit of hope and a vision for what you really want.

I was diagnosed with genital herpes at 23 years old and I thought my life was ruined. I am here today to tell you that I am living the life of my dreams, happily married and raising an amazing little girl.

I would never have thought this could be a reality.

If you are a woman with herpes in despair, start dreaming again and then take one action today in the direction of your dreams.

How Volunteering Can Help Heal Your Herpes- Sheila’s Story

How Volunteering Can Help Heal Your Herpes Suffering-
Sheila’s Story

Today I want to share with you Sheila’s story. Shelia has been a woman who I have worked with in the past with Habitat for Humanity and she really exemplifies two different things. First off, she exemplifies vulnerability.  I asked her to share her story of how working with a non-profit and volunteering pulled her out of a great deal of shame and pain around her herpes diagnosis as well as some extremely challenging personal times in her life. The second thing that we can learn from her story is that when we are suffering, it’s important to get out of your own head.  If you are able to focus on other people and focus on their needs, healing can really start from the inside, out. Volunteering is a great way to feel better about yourself and also make a great impact on the community. I encourage you to read her full story below!

What Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity has meant in my life.

Hi my name is Sheila and this is the story of how volunteering with Habitat for Humanity has helped me to make changes in my life. So first some background on myself. I have been through what I call the Decade from HELL. Seems it all started in 2006 for me. It is now 2017 and it has been a REALLY LONG road of LOSS and change in my life. However, not all of it was BAD. I had many good things happen also. Nevertheless, the roller coaster ride has forever changed me. As I look back now I am amazed that I pulled myself through so much. A few key turning points made my road to where I am currently at a lot better and it began with Volunteering.

As my therapist has told me many times, I have gone through more in a short time frame then most people go through over the entire course of their lives. That is a very true statement for me. Some of the highlights (as I call them now) from my decade from Hell have been the following. I have suffered through 10 deaths in 11 years and it has been one Major grief session after another. Six of which have been family…..including my Mom, Grandmother and Father (all 3 within a year and half). Grief is a tricky bastard to deal with and I cannot seem to get away from it.  In addition, I purchased my condo/home and moved out alone for the first time in my life.

I have also been out of work 4 times totaling almost 3 years living on savings and Unemployment and PT retail jobs in between. Because of this I had to work with my mortgage company twice to save my house, this last one (2016) came excessively close to that happening. The sad part about being out of work so much was the 3 years I also spent back in College for a Dual Master’s Degree so my company could promote me. However, I was “laid off” after 8years shortly after graduating and have had bad luck in the last 7 years with finding Permanent employment. That has led to lots of Contract work and NOT working. I have become a Master at getting through tough times, financially at least; the emotional toll is still a work in progress.

In between all this happening, I of course started to change and that lead to losing some very close friends in my life. There has also just been a rash of bad luck in the dating world therefore I have never gotten married or had any kids (even though I wanted that). What killed me the most was losing my BFF of 18 years because her new husband never liked me. With that, I also lost being an Aunt to a great little boy that was the LOVE of my life. And my person to talk to about anything in life.

I have also gained a LOT of weight and my self-confidence took hits all over the place. Both physically and emotionally with personal and professional sectors. Not to mention the host of health issues that I have been faced with, including daily chronic back pain due to a bulging disc and now Herpes not to mention the mid to late 40’s hormonal changes.

I do not remember the younger version of me that started this journey 11 years ago now. However, today I see a very strong woman that somehow got through it all. I have lost a lot but have gained a lot as well. I have a few amazing women friends that have seen me through all of this and have stayed by my side. I LOVE them all dearly but one day I realized that I needed something else in my life. The dating scene has just been tough for me, I just do not have great luck and when I do meet the right guy, it seems to always be the wrong time for him. So I was bored with online dating, back to work after a 16 month unemployment and realizing that while I loved my girlfriends, we all didn’t really have a lot in common as far as interest in what we did together.  I would hang out with them to get out of the house, but they never seemed to want to do things I wanted.

I knew I needed something to change but was not sure how to begin and what exactly I needed to change. So somewhere in the middle of my life being a Complete MESS (4 years ago), I heard yet another news segment on The Jimmy Carter Build with Habitat for Humanity in Denver and how that was wrapping up and ending. I realized that I had missed a chance to DO SOMETHING GOOD and work side by side with our former president of the US, I felt sad but that spurred me into action. I just had started another job and waited until I was adjusted there. However, the ONLY way I knew how to make a change in my life at that point was this volunteering opportunity with Habitat for Humanity. I had always been intrigued in this organization and had the thought of “What kind of Guys can I meet at a construction site”, was a thought at first. Then after checking out the site online and signed up to check it out.

May 3rd, 2014 I woke up and got ready to go to my very first day volunteering at Habitat for Humanity…
